"S...L...O...W to anger" is characteristic of the Lord (Exodus 34:6).
How quick to anger we are!
We have our agendas for each day, each month and each year.... We get frustrated with mechanical things, inefficient service and difficult relationships
.
God's nature, however, is just the opposite.... When he told Moses his name, God explained that he is compassionate and gracious.... He is more concerned with a person's needs than with his or her faults.
. He is abounding in love and faithfulness... A faithful marriage partner sticks with his or her companion even when that person is hard to love!
God is so faithful to us that," if we are faithless, he will remain faithful"2 (Timothy 2:13).
Finally, God is" forgiving" (Exodus 34:7).... Such forgiveness is the crowning virtue of his long-suffering,
God is" slow to anger," because he automatically forgives those who repent of wickedness.... Make it a practice to control your anger by instantaneous, spontaneous forgiveness when someone does something directly to hurt you.
If Jesus could forgive the soldiers for their abuse (Matthew 27:28 – 31), how much more should we control our petty anger and frustrations?
Daily readings:
Exodus 34:1 – 35:9
Psalm 33:12 – 22

Matthew 27:15 – 31
